"The one where you have hair like Rachel Green"

Your how-to guide on replicating Rachel Green's best looks.

Trends come and go but Aniston's looks have managed to stay relevant since they've made their debut on the hit 90's sitcom Friends.

In spirit of the shows 25th anniversary we will be giving you the rundown of all our favorite Rachel Green hairstyles and how to replicate them.

The Rachel

This was Rachel's most iconic look that practically defined 90's hair. Salons were flooded with customers wishing to replicate the look.

The hairstyle was so popular that it had its own name "The Rachel".

How to replicate "The Rachel"?

This hairstyle consists of many layers.

The layers will give your hair a lot of body by surrounding your face in a heart like shape.

This hairstyle is a really great way to bring focus to your lovely features as it frames the face.

You want to make sure that you keep your hair light and fluffy. The best way to do this is prior to styling your hair, wash your hair with a shampoo that will enhance the volume in your hair.

You then want to apply 1-2 drops of an oil or serum to your damp hair like the K.Therapy Bio Argan Oil which will ensure a smooth texture once you style your hair.

The best way to dry your hair for this look is with a blow dryer and mid size round brush. Using an iron to straighten your hair will make your hair way too flat.

Au Natural

"Keep your hair natural" is always a daunting thought, especially when you have natural hair like mine (looks like I stuck my finger in a electrical socket).

However, Rachel Green helps us see that when leaving your hair au natural, you simply have to understand how to push it in the right direction. Once you've mastered this, it's easy.

How to get Rachel Green worthy beach waves?

After washing your hair, you'll want to spray your hair with a texturizing spray like the K. Style Sea Mist Sea Spray by Lakme, creating natural looking sea blown waves.

Once you've sprayed the product thoroughly through your hair, scrunch your hair upwards from your tips to help activate the waves.

Leave your hair to air dry or blow dry with a diffuser otherwise your hair will become frizzy and no one wants that.

Half-Up

The half up, half down is my go-to look because of its versatility.

It works perfectly for pretty much anything: school, work, an interview, event, a date or night out on the town.

This look can be replicated regardless of your hair type and works especially well for those who want more volume in their hair.

What's the best way to pin up your hair, you say?

You'll need:

  • some trusty bobby pins or a clip with a strong grip
  • little bit of hair spray
  • A small tooth comb

Use a small tooth comb to bring your hairline to one side as demonstrated in the picture of Aniston above ^

Leave some strands of your hair loose, with one side having slightly more hair left down.

If you're using bobby pins, pin back the sides of your hair one side at a time and secure it with a bobby pin and spray the bobby pin with a little bit of hairspray.

Be careful not to spray hairspray all over your hair otherwise it will diminish the softened look.

If your using a clip with good grip, all you have to do is bring the side pieces of hair near your ears back and secure it with a clip.

If you have any pesky baby hairs, you could push them back with a bobby pin.

For a glossy finish, apply a drop of finishing cream or hair oil to the ends of your hair and a little at your roots to eliminate any flyaways.

Elegant Updo

Bring out that clip with the good grip again, you'll definitely be needing it for this look.

Have a formal evening approaching and the weather forecast predicts rain?

Here's your solution my friend:

  1. First you'll want to gather your hair to one side
  2. Leave one strand of hair loose
  3. Pin your hair to that one side with bobby pins
  4. Spray the bobby pins with hairspray to keep them in place
  5. Pull back the rest of your hair and create a twist
  6. Clip your twisted hair upwards with a big claw clip

Long & Luscious

I loved how this hairstyle wasn't completely straight.

The ends of her hair are slightly wavy or flipped, framing her face and giving the hairstyle more body; it was so flattering

If you wish to achieve this look and have shorter hair you could always use hair extensions.

If you haven't used hair extensions before and want to give it a try, Hair Treats has a extension starters kit that's perfect for those of you giving them a try for the first time.

For those that are more comfortable with extensions, Hair Treats offers an arrangement of extensions from clip ons to stick ons, microsphere and nanosphere.

So there you have it, told you we'd be there for you and all your Rachel Green hairstyle needs.

I know... that pun is way overused.
