If you're hopping on a plane sometime soon, or plan to travel in the near future, you need to read ahead.

Flying can dry out your hair and skin so it's up to us to make sure that this doesn't happen. With the following tips, you'll be getting off the plane looking super fresh, and not like you just spent the last 12 hours jammed in a seat, pressed to the stranger next to you.

Tip #1: Wash & Condition Your Hair Right Before Your Flight

Washing your hair as close as possible to your flight will go a long way. This will help with retaining moisture and not allowing for your hair to dehydrate throughout the flight. The key is to also blow-dry your hair after washing, and refrain from using additional products until you board the plane.

Use a good shampoo and conditioner, like KeraStraight's Moisture Enhance Shampoo & Conditioner. This combination delivers hydration and revitalizes dry hair.

Don't forget to pack a travel-sized paste, like Lakme's K.Style Texture Putty Working Paste, so that you can style your hair throughout the flight, maintaining a nice shape.

Tip #2: Stay Hydrated!

We know you want to activate vacation-mode ASAP, but we recommend holding off on that glass of champagne and stick to water. Save the booze for when you land; the air on flights dries out the skin so drinking water is twice as important! Like the shampoo and conditioner, this tip will help your hair retain moisture.

Tip #3: Hair Mask It Up

There is no shame in masking it up on a plane, ladies. You do what you gotta do, right? And a hair mask is pretty important for those dreadful, long flights. Flights are actually a perfect time for hair masks, anyway - you apply the product to your hair either right before boarding, or first thing after boarding, and let it sit throughout the whole flight. This delivers the moisture your hair strands NEED, resulting in a gorgeous finish.

Lakme's BioArgan Hydrating Mask is perfect for your in-flight hair mask, but you will need to transfer a smaller quantity in a travel-sized sachet or tub in order to bring it on the plane.

Tip #4: Hair Oil Is Your Traveling Buddy

Hair masks can be a bit out of your comfort zone or even a bit too much effort for you, so a great alternative would be to use hair oil! Like a hair mask, a hair oil is what will nourish and hydrate your hair during your long, dry flight. The difference between a hair oil and a hair mask is the application; apply a hair oil, like Lakme's BioArgan Oil, to your ends - unless you're sure you can wash your hair before you begin your activities.

Tip #5: Keep It Simple!

You don't want to wear a hairstyle that requires maintenance; you want something simple and comfortable. Especially if you plan on applying hair masks or hair oils, simple hairstyles, like twisted chignon buns, should be your go-to.

Salon Club's Hair Slinky are great for holding hair up since no ridges will be formed in holding your hair up - it's a win-win!

Tip #6: Bring A Hair Brush

Your carry-on should most definitely include a hair brush! Brushing your hair throughout your flight is a nice way to feel clean. If you're applying a hair mask, to avoid getting your hands dirty at your seat, you can brush the product through your hair instead. Hair also tends to get tangled on the plane since you're most likely shifting a lot in your seat or from falling asleep. A hair brush is an essential item to have in your everyday purse, so why not bring it along for your long journey in the sky?

The perfect hair brush for your travels is Salon Club's Mini Paddle Brush - it's small and cute, and won't take up any space in your carry-on.
