A few weeks into the new year and there's already a brand new trend going viral! What started off on Facebook has quickly made its way onto Instagram...and now onto our blog too!
And what better way to see what the buzz is about then to join in and make it into our own?! We have selected 5 celebrities-- some actors/actresses, some singers--that we AB-SO-LUTE-LY love and thought we would see how their hair has changed from the past 10 years as opposed to now...ENJOY!
Despite the obvious difference in hair length, we are amazed to see how little has changed over the years for Anne Hathaway... #blessed!
For this year's Golden Globe Awards, Hathaway has decided to give in to the current trend of the sleek, straight hair, and we can't really blame her. We think the no-fuss, pulled back hair complements her patterned dress and makes her look put together without being distracting. Although a little difficult to see, Hathaway has had the mid-ends of her hair colored an ever-so-slightly lighter shade of brown. We suspect she may have some brown balayage going on for the occasion, which we love and think suits her so well!
In contrast, a decade earlier, she was sporting a pixie cut with her bangs styled upwards and slightly off to the side. This modern and edgy look really emphasized her facial structure and elongated her face. Either way, we think Hathaway rocks whatever hairstyle she chooses to wear!
Tip: If you are looking to copy her pixie cut and would like to style your bangs similarly, we recommend using Lakme K Style Lift Xtra Strong Hold Gel
Talk about MAJOR hair transformation!
About a decade ago, Ariana kept her hair mid-length, past the shoulders, and colored it a vibrant red. Except for the harsh dye, she played it safe by avoiding layers; wearing her hair down and pinning back her front hair section.
Although at the time Ariana went with a typical 'teen look', we have to say that her iconic high ponytail is a fantastic glow up. The dark brown shade complements her skin complexion well and lends a softer look to her features. Without a doubt, we can all agree that the more natural look has been quite an upgrade, and we are happy to see that the Princess of Pop is faring well with her long locks.
Speaking of long locks, in her latest video, Ariana is wearing her signature hairstyle with inches upon inches of hair extensions trailing down her back. Since its release, we haven't been able to stop listening to her new track, which definitely means this song has made it into out top hits for the year! If you haven't already seen her music video, check out "7 rings". We adore her "bad girl with a touch of Barbie" vibes.

Now we all remember Shay Mitchell as Emily Fields from Pretty Little Liars. She has since come a long way and has starred in the Netflix Original series "You" as Peach Salinger.
She remains stunning as ever, so nothing new there, but we can't deny that there has been a noticeable difference in styling. For one, the blonde ombre with loose, beachy waves is long gone; in its place, the now-popular long dark extensions have taken over.
About 10 years ago, however, the blonde ombre was all the rage that everyone talked about and tried on (I'm sure you did too, don't try to deny it ;) ). It was a great choice for anyone looking to add more dimension to their hair, particularly if they styled it as wavy or curly. Shay Mitchell was no different, who, portraying a teenager in PLL, decided to give into the trendy look. And we have to admit she fit right in! Despite playing the role at 21, she may as well have passed as a 16-year-old!
It is absolutely incredible how a simple change in hair color can make someone appear more youthful. In contrast, the current darker hair she is wearing has given Shay a more mature look which resonates with her role in "You" as a woman nearing 30.
Emily Blunt is no stranger to undergoing various hair dye jobs throughout her acting career. Blunt's iconic auburn hair made for a memorable look in The Devil Wears Prada. Who can forget her role as the bossy, fashion-forward senior assistant ? The hair styling definitely contributed to the edgy style created for Emily's character; from the perfectly swept side bangs to the outward-facing curls to the layered cut...they all helped to bring about a modern, stylish look. Unarguably, this has to be our favorite hair color of hers!
For 2 years now, Blunt has kept her hair a lighter blonde and gone for a long bob, or "lob" for short. Essentially, a "lob" is a hairstyle that just about touches the shoulders. She adheres to a more understated look, so she is often seen with her hair styled as loose waves. It is incredibly easy to maintain and offers versatility, which is probably why she has kept it for so long.
Alas, for Blunt's current picture, we can see she still has the blonde hair going on at the Golden Globe Awards. Her stylist purposefully arranged Blunt's hair into a 'messy' Dutch braid with the intention of keeping the focus on the dazzling Alexander McQueen dress.
Tip: Wanna recreate Blunt's side swept bangs ? Why not give Lakme's Hard Xtreme Hold Spray a try?

How could we forget Cole Sprouse?
He went from an adorable Disney tween to a handsome man in "Riverdale" in what seems like a blink of an eye. His career on screen took off after accepting the role as Cody Martin in Disney's teen series, "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" . Back then, he sported his natural blonde hair with side swept bangs.
After a 5-year hiatus, he has successfully re-entered the acting scene as Jughead Jones in "Riverdale". The drastic changes over the years are very telling as one would expect: instead of the standard side bangs, he is currently rocking a dramatic sculpted swoop and a layered cut with much darker, fuller hair.
We don't know about you, but we think the hair transformation is a most welcome one! The darker hair is a fresh look and has given him a mature air (that naturally is required for his role, but also sits well at this stage in his life). We are excited to see what this year will bring for Cole as he has announced some other projects to be in the making and hope the hair glow up will continue in future years.
That's all for today's post! Hope you lovelies enjoyed this topic and let us know in the comments what other celebrities' transformations amazed you!
